Rajinikanth’s Coolie smashes North America advance box office with $1.9 million pre-sales

Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is making waves at the advance box office in North America. The film has started strong in the region, with the pre-sales numbers leaving War 2 far behind.

The official social media handle of the distributor of the film, Prathyangira Cinemas, has recently shared a new poster of the film with a thrilling announcement. Coolie has grossed over $1.9 million (Rs 166.6 crore) in advance bookings in North America alone.

The poster was shared with the caption, “The BOX OFFICE is under his COMMAND.
Ruling every corner with a MAGNANIMOUS RAMPAGE… HISTORY is not just made… it’s REWRITTEN on SUPERSTAR’s NAME.”

Rajinikanth’s action thriller is scheduled for around 1,450 shows across 488 locations in North America, with over 75,000 tickets sold through advance bookings.

Coolie is also receiving strong responses in markets such as Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, the UK, and Ireland, where pre-sales have already begun. Advance bookings will open in additional countries starting Sunday.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will portray the role of Deva, a former gold smuggler who sets out to regain his former glory, in the upcoming action thriller.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir. Aamir Khan will also appear in the film in a cameo role. He is speculated to portray Dahaa.

Produced on a massive budget, the film features music from Anirudh Ravichander, especially the viral hit Monica.

Coolie will hit the theatres on Thursday, August 14.
