Rajinikanth has finally spoken out after recent claims suggested that he stayed away from politics due to pressure from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.
The veteran actor shared a statement on his X account on 17 March, addressing the controversy that quickly gained attention.
The issue began when Aadhav Arjuna, general secretary of Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, alleged during a protest on 12 March that the DMK had threatened Rajinikanth and prevented him from entering politics. The remark sparked strong reactions across political circles and among fans.
While Rajinikanth did not directly respond to the allegation, his statement made his position clear in a calm and measured way. Instead of engaging in a back-and-forth, he chose to thank those who supported him.

In his note, written in Tamil, he said, “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who condemned his slanderous remarks and raised their voices in support of me: the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Edappadi Palaniswami; Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran; Union Minister L. Murugan; Tamil Nadu Minister Raghupathy; Thol. Thirumavalavan; S.P. Velumani; my friend Annamalai; Arjunamurthy; Anbumani Ramadoss; G.K. Vasan. John Pandian; Pugazhendhi; and various other political leaders from different parties.”
He also extended his thanks to members of the film industry, the media, and his fans, adding, "I also extend my sincere thanks to Ameer, G. Dhananjayan, and my friends from the film fraternity; to Nakkeeran Gopal, Rangaraj Pandey (Chanakyaa), and members of the media; and, above all, to my fans—whom I revere as deities—for sustaining and uplifting me. Time doesn’t speak, but it waits and gives the answer."

Rajinikanth’s decision to not enter politics is not new. Back in December 2020, he had announced plans to launch his own political party but later stepped back, citing health concerns.
At the time, he had described it as “a warning from God” and said, “I will serve the people in whatever ways I can, without entering electoral politics.”
With Tamil Nadu heading into elections soon, political discussions are heating up again.
