As the release of Coolie gets closer, Tamil actor Rajinikanth has said how much he admires his co-star, Telugu star Nagarjuna. The 74-year-old veteran actor couldn't stop praising the 65-year-old Nagarjuna in a special promotional video. He praised not only his performance in the film but also his young looks and discipline.
Rajinikanth talked about the action drama that everyone is looking forward to. He said that one of the best parts of the movie is Nagarjuna's portrayal as the bad guy, Simon. He stated, "The best thing about Coolie is that our King Nagarjuna plays the bad guy." "When Lokesh [Kanagaraj] told me about the character, I wanted to know who would play it." I was shocked when he stated Nagarjuna had agreed after six meetings.
Rajinikanth made it clear that Nagarjuna didn't take the part for money. "He doesn't need the cash." He has always been the hero. But he has accepted this challenge and done it quite well.
Rajinikanth couldn't help but comment on Nagarjuna's seemingly ageless look while thinking back on their work together in Shanti Kranti (1991). "We worked together 33–34 years ago." Rajinikanth said, "He looks younger now than he did back then." "I've lost all my hair, but he still has his skin and body."
Rajinikanth asked Nagarjuna directly what his secret was because he was curious. "He said it's all because of a disciplined diet and regular exercise." Nagarjuna also said that he eats dinner about 6:30 or 7 PM and follows the counsel of his father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao: Don't ever take things to heart.
Rajinikanth, who spent 17 days in Thailand filming alongside Nagarjuna, admired both his looks and his charm. "He is not only good-looking, but he is also a gentleman," he stated. "I've played bad guys before, but I'm not sure I could have played Simon as well as he did. He was great."
Coolie is an action drama with a lot of stars, including Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna in the key parts. The movie is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and stars Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan. The movie will come out in theatres on August 14, 2025, and it will be in direct competition with War 2, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
Lokesh is recognised for his interwoven Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) with Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo. However, Coolie is its own separate project, and the plot is still a secret.
Fans are excited to see Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna reunite on screen after more than 30 years apart.
