Nagarjuna reveals Coolie director Lokesh Kanagaraj saved producers Rs 5 Cr: I want to work with him again

Nagarjuna praises Lokesh Kanagaraj

Nagarjuna Akkineni is all set to star in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie alongside South superstar Rajinikanth. He will portray the lead antagonist named Simon in the upcoming action thriller. Nagarjuna has recently showered praise on Lokesh and revealed how the filmmaker stayed under the budget, saving producers, Sun Pictures, Rs 5 crore.

During a recent pre-release event held in Hyderabad, Nagarjuna talked about Lokesh’s filmmaking style and said, “On the last schedule, when we shot in Bangkok, he (Lokesh) said, Sun Pictures gave me so much budget.”

He added, “We still have Rs 5 crore left. We finished shooting for the film. So, that is fantastic for such a big film. The producers wouldn’t have questioned him had he spent Rs 15 crore more.”

The actor further suggested that Lokesh has worked hard in his career. He said, “I have worked with many directors before, but I’ve not worked with someone who’s so clear in his head. He works with a six-camera setup, so most of the scenes are done in one take. I played a negative role, but the experience was the most positive. I want to work with him again and again.”

For the unversed, Rajinikanth will star as Deva, a former gold smuggler who sets out to regain his former glory, in the upcoming action thriller.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film features an ensemble cast including Nagarjuna, Upendra Rao, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj. Aamir Khan is to have a cameo in the film, and he will portray Dahaa. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran.

Coolie is slated to release in the theatres on August 14.
