Priyanka Chopra's sister-in-law, Neelam Upadhyaya, recently shocked her followers with a photo showing a severe skin reaction following her Haldi ceremony. Neelam, who got married to Priyanka’s brother Siddharth Chopra on February 7, revealed on Instagram that she was dealing with a painful skin allergy potentially triggered by the Haldi paste used during the ritual.
In a candid Instagram story, Neelam shared a photo of the allergic reaction that had developed around her collarbone, asking for advice from her followers. "What on Earth????? I think it’s a reaction of the haldi paste to the sun. Although I did a patch test a few days before the function and everything was okay. Any remedies?" she wrote. Despite the patch test, which appeared to show no issues prior to the event, it seems the combination of the Haldi paste and sun exposure caused her skin to react harshly, leading to visible burns and discomfort.
The Haldi ceremony is a significant pre-wedding tradition in our Indian weddings, where turmeric paste is applied to the bride and groom for good luck and radiant skin. For this occasion, Neelam and Siddharth coordinated their outfits in beautiful traditional yellow attire. Siddharth wore a yellow kurta paired with black sunglasses, while Neelam opted for an elegant ensemble consisting of a strappy blouse, skirt, and dupatta, with white accessories completing the look. Priyanka Chopra, who attended the wedding celebrations, also donned a stunning yellow lehenga for the Haldi ceremony.

The allergic reaction has led to much concern among her followers, who have flooded her post with suggestions to alleviate the pain. Neelam, who is a known actress in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, seemed to be trying to make the best of the situation, despite the unfortunate skin reaction on such a special occasion.
Siddharth and Neelam’s wedding, which took place on February 7, 2025, was a more intimate affair, with only close family and friends in attendance. The couple had gotten engaged on August 26, 2024, and their week-long wedding celebrations included several cultural ceremonies like the Haldi, Sangeet, and other joyous pre-marriage rituals.
Interestingly, Siddharth had been previously engaged twice—first to Kanika Mathur in 2014 and then to Ishita Kumar in 2019—before both weddings were called off. This time, however, it seems that Siddharth and Neelam are moving forward with their relationship in a beautiful, new chapter.
