Indian short film Anuja, produced by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, has earned a spot on the shortlist for Best Live Action Short Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The nominations were unveiled on January 23, 2025, by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott, showcasing a diverse lineup of films and performances from the past year. Priyanka Chopra expressed her gratitude and excitement over the film's recognition.
She took to Instagram to share a poster of the film as well as the trailer and wrote a note in the caption that read, "‘Anuja’ is heading to the 2025 Oscars as a nominee for Best Live Action Short Film! Incredible! Huge congratulations to @adam_j_graves for capturing the essence of love, family, and resilience so beautifully. I’m in awe of the incredible talent of our actresses, Sajda Pathan and @ananya_shanbhag_ , for their powerful performances and for bringing such depth and authenticity to these characters."

The Short film Anuja follows the journey of a 9-year-old girl who works with her elder sister, Palak, in a small garment factory in New Delhi. The story explores her inner conflict as she grapples with a pivotal choice—pursuing education or continuing to work to support her family.

The film has garnered strong industry backing, with Guneet Monga as the executive producer, joined by Hollywood writer-actor Mindy Kaling and global star Priyanka Chopra. Co-directed by Adam J Graves and Suchitra Mattai, the project is a collaborative production under Graves Films, Krushan Naik Films, and Shine Global.
