Prithviraj Sukumaran discusses L2: Empuraan’s Hindi appeal, denies competition with Salman Khan’s Sikandar

Ahead of L2: Empuraan's release on March 27, the film’s cast, including Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, attended a Delhi press conference. Director-actor Prithviraj highlighted the film’s extensive Hindi portions and shared his expectations for its Hindi release.

When asked about the film’s key aspects, Prithviraj revealed that Empuraan will be released in five languages across India and worldwide, including Hindi.

With the highly anticipated Malayalam film L2: Empuraan set to release on March 27, the star-studded cast, including Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, and Abhimanyu Singh, attended a press conference in Delhi on Tuesday. During the media interaction, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has also directed L2: Empuraan, discussed the film’s extensive portions shot in Hindi and shared his expectations for its Hindi version.

When asked about the film’s key aspects, Prithviraj revealed that Empuraan will be released in five languages across India and worldwide, including Hindi. "This particular film is an aspirational project for all of us in Kerala. This is a piece of cinema where we have aspired to dream very very big. We are really trying to push the boundaries of what we imagined to be possible within the constraints of our industry, which is a reason that we were very particular that on March 27 we would like our film to be released in all 5 languages across the country and across the world. And I am particularly looking forward to the responses to the Hindi version of the film," he stated.

Further emphasising on his expectations and hopes from the Hindi version of the film as a large part of the film was also shot in Hindi, he said, "Firstly, we have put in a lot of effort, time and money in trying to make the Hindi version of the film sound, feel and look as authentic as possible. Secondly, a good 30-35% of this film is in Hindi. Its shot in Hindi because the story is such, the characters are such that a large part of the film is Hindi speaking. And I am going to retain the hindi speaking portion of the film as Hindi speaking in all 5 versions of it. So I am very keen to know what are the responses to the Hindi version of the film is."

When asked about L2: Empuraan's release clashing with Salman Khan's Sikandar, Prthviraj said that there is no competition between the films and wished luck to the team of Sikandar. "Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies," he remarked.

L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 hit Malayalam film Lucifer, starring Mohanlal and the directorial debut of Prithviraj. The film has a star-studded cast featuring, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Tovino Thomas and Suraj Venjaramoodu.

As per latest Sacnilk reports, the political-thriller has already garnered more that Rs 50 crore in advance bookings for the opening weekend and has become the first Malayalam film to do so.

Directed by Prithviraj, L2: Empuraan is produced by Lyca Productions, Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies and is written by Murali Gopy.
