Prahalad Kakkar on Priyanka Chopra's affair rumours: "It was very personal to her"

Reflecting on her early days, Prahalad recalled Priyanka competing against Lara Dutta at the 2000 Femina Miss India pageant.

Ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar recently shared remarks on actress Priyanka Chopra's past relationship, which was considered a 'serious affair', and reasons why the actress kept mum about it.

Although he refrained from mentioning any names, Bollywood circles have long speculated about her alleged link with Shah Rukh Khan, particularly after they collaborated in Don and Don 2.

In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Prahalad said, “Priyanka is a doll, she’s a great person to work with. She’s very ambitious, she’s very single-minded, she’s very focused. And she has a certain sense of dignity which she will not allow people to enter. So, her whole, this whole so-called affair, she never made a comment on it."

"Everybody else was commenting. She never said anything. She held her dignity. And if it was a frivolous relationship, she would have laughed. Obviously, it was serious. So, it was very personal to her. She didn’t want it to be written about, she didn’t want to be talked about it," he added.

Reflecting on her early days, Prahalad recalled Priyanka competing against Lara Dutta at the 2000 Femina Miss India pageant. While Lara took home the main crown and Priyanka finished as the first runner-up, both went on to win prestigious international titles later that year.

Prahalad further stated, “Priyanka had huge disadvantages at that time. First, she was dark. Second, she had a bad skin. And she still does. Okay, so her skin had to be actually made up and covered. And then she was a strong-looking girl. She lost a lot of weight to look like the way she did in Dostana. She looked like a million dollars in Dostana. I mean, there’s no question about it. She had to work damn hard at it because she’s not a delicate-looking girl. She’s a big-boned girl. So you don’t, you’re not just losing weight on your flesh. You’re also having to deal with a skeleton."

According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra’s alleged affair is said to have started during the shooting of Don 2. Rumours were widespread at the time, with speculation that Shah Rukh’s wife, Gauri Khan, was aware of the situation and had even thought about divorce. However, neither Shah Rukh nor Priyanka has ever confirmed or addressed these claims.

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has a lineup of projects in her kitty, including Citadel season 2. She will also be seen making her much-awaited comeback in Indian films with SS Rajamouli's SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
