Poorna Jagannathan bagged global fame with her Netflix series, Never Have I Ever. However, the actress has previously co-starred with Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukerji's directorial Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013.
The actress has recently complimented her co-star and called him ‘gorgeous’. She also revealed that Ranbir had helped her produce the play, Nirbhaya.
In a recent interview with ANI, Poorna said, “I loved working with Ayan and Ranbir. It was such a privilege. It was such a gift… Right after I did Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewaani, I went and produced my own play called Nirbhaya. And Ranbir was its first investor.”
Poorna further added, “He was the first one who gave me money to get this play kicked off. And we toured that, we ended up touring that play globally for three years.”
She added, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was an important movie for me to be part of because of my friendship with Ranbir and his generosity, my friendship with Ayaan. It had a significant impact on my life. It was an iconic movie.”
For the unversed, Poorna starred as Riana Sarai, a tour conductor who helps get Ranbir's character Bunny his dream job, in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead roles. The film was a huge box office success and recently re-released in theatres.
On the work front, Poorna is getting praise for her role in the new comedy show Deli Boys. The show is about two brothers who surprisingly inherit their father's business after he dies.
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal. He is currently busy shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.
