Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has come under fire from Hollywood actor Pedro Pascal for her anti-trans comments, calling her a "heinous loser."
Following the UK Supreme Court's recent historic ruling that trans women should not be legally recognised as women and that "sex" refers specifically to biological sex, Rowling, who regularly garners attention for her opinions on women's rights, has been especially outspoken online.
Pascal responded to an Instagram video posted by a user who claimed that Rowling was celebrating the UK Supreme Court’s decision against recognizing trans women. "Awful disgusting s*** is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior (sic),” he wrote.
After the supreme court ruling, Rowling had shared a photo of her smoking a cigar and having a drink. She captioned it, "I love it when a plan comes together. #SupremeCourt #WomensRights.” In another post, she had a message for her critics, "I get the same royalties whether you read (my books) or burn them. Enjoy your marshmallows!"
Pascal has long been an outspoken ally of the trans community, with a personal connection as the brother of trans actress Lux Pascal.
In a 2023 interview with Esquire, Pedro Pascal spoke about his sister, describing her as one of the most powerful individuals he has ever known. He added that while his protective instincts are fierce, he relies on her even more than she relies on him.
