Nitesh Tiwari’s epic Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about films of the year, and the excitement has only grown with the latest casting news.

Faisal Malik, best known for his lovable role as Prahladcha ‘Prahlad’ Pandey in the Amazon Prime Video series Panchayat, is reportedly set to play Kumbhakarna, adding another familiar face to this star-studded adaptation.

Fans had earlier speculated that Bobby Deol might take on the role, but Faisal Malik now appears to have stepped in, bringing his height and imposing build to the legendary character.

According to a report by HT, Faisal Malik has already wrapped up the first schedule of the film, shooting alongside Yash for the introductory Kumbhakarna scenes at Prime Focus Studios in Mumbai. “The sequences are heavy on graphics — similar to Avatar,” a source told the publication, hinting at the epic scale of the production and the visual spectacle audiences can expect.

The film’s ensemble cast is already creating plenty of buzz. Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi steps into the role of Goddess Sita, and Yash takes on the role of Ravana. Other key characters include Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, and Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh as Mandodri and Surpanakha.

Veteran actors Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan also round out the impressive cast.

In addition, Raghav Juyal has been cast as Meghanad, Ravana’s eldest son, who will appear in the second part of the saga, slated for release during Diwali 2027.
