In a recent revelation, acclaimed director Pa. Ranjith shared insights into how the trailer of ‘KGF’ influenced his work on his upcoming film, ‘Thangalaan’. Ranjith admitted that he initially halted production on ‘Thangalaan’ upon noticing similarities between the two films. This pause allowed him to reassess and make significant changes to ensure that ‘Thangalaan’ would stand out distinctly in the cinematic landscape. After making these adjustments, Ranjith resumed work, determined to deliver a unique and compelling story.
Ranjith also took the opportunity to express his deep admiration for lead actor Chiyaan Vikram. He praised Vikram's dedication, recounting how the actor continued to work through a rib fracture sustained during filming. Ranjith expressed his gratitude, saying, "Vikram sir’s unwavering trust in me and his relentless effort make this film all the more special. I am hopeful for its success, especially for him."
Vikram himself spoke about the extensive preparations and personal transformations he underwent for ‘Thangalaan’. He highlighted the meticulous care he took with his health to meet the demanding requirements of his role, showing the significance of the project for him.
‘Thangalaan’ promises to be a cinematic spectacle, exploring the real story of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) during the British exploitation. The film is set to continue the South Indian film industry's tradition of presenting unique and engaging concepts.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith, ‘Thangalaan’ features Chiyaan Vikram and Malavika Mohanan in prominent roles. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on August 15, 2024, and will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The music for the film is composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar.
