Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt was last seen in Vasan Bala's thriller Jigra, which received mixed reviews. Despite the divided reactions, the makers have now announced the film's OTT platform and release date, allowing audiences who missed it in theaters to catch it from the comfort of their homes.
The digital release is expected to spark renewed interest, as fans will get another chance to experience the emotional drama and suspense, while also offering a chance for critical reassessment.
On Thursday, Taking to their official Instagram account, Netflix India announced that the Alia Bhatt starrer, Jigra will be premiering on the platform from December 6.
Along with the poster of the film, Netflix wrote, "Phoolon aur taaron ne kaha hai, ulti ginti shuru karlo Jigra is arriving tomorrow on Netflix." with stars emojis.
Jigra is a gripping thriller that showcases the lengths to which a sister will go to save her family. Satya Anand (Alia) finds herself on a dangerous mission to rescue her brother, Ankur Anand (Vedang Raina), from a perilous situation.
The film explores themes of family loyalty, determination, and the emotional bond between siblings. Produced by Dharma Productions and presented by Viacom18 Studios and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Jigra combines suspense with emotional depth.
Co-written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan, the film promises a thrilling narrative that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. With powerful performances and a gripping storyline, it is set to captivate audiences when it premieres on Netflix.
The film underperformed at the box office upon its release during Dusshera, marking Alia's lowest opening since 2014's Highway, which was only her second film.

During the theatrical release of the film, actor-filmmaker Divya Khossla Kumar stated that the jailbreak drama resembled the storyline of her previous film, Savi. She also accused Alia of manipulating the box office numbers for Jigra, alleging that Alia bought tickets for her own film and inflated the collection figures to mislead the public.
