Actor Guy Pearce made a powerful political statement on the red carpet at the 2025 Academy Awards by wearing a Free Palestine pin. The actor, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Brutalist, used the global platform to express his support for Palestine, calling it “the least we can do.”
While Hollywood’s biggest night is typically centered around glitz and glamour, Pearce ensured that his presence also carried a message of activism. Speaking about his choice to wear the pin, he stated, “I’m just always on the case of trying to recognise Palestine and it having as much support as it possibly can because it’s what it absolutely needs.”
His statement comes amid rising tensions, as reports earlier in the day revealed that Israel had announced a cut-off of humanitarian aid to Gaza—a move seen as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Pearce's Free Palestine pin joins a growing movement in Hollywood, where many artists have publicly voiced their support for Palestinian rights amid the ongoing conflict. The issue has sparked debates within the industry, with some celebrities facing backlash while others have been praised for their advocacy.
Other stunners on the Oscars red carpet were Ariana Grande, Cynthia Evrio, Elle Fanning, Demi Moore, Zoe Saldana, Timothee Chalamet among many others.
Cynthia Erivo gave a stunning tribute to Hattie McDaniel, the first black woman to win the Academy Award, wearing a breathtaking deep emerald green Louis Vuitton gown. Ariana Grande walked the red carpet in a sculptural flared pink top and a tulle skirt by Schiaparelli. Elle Fanning chose a lacy white gown with a full skirt and black belt. Demi Moore wore a sparkling silver gown with a train flowing behind her. Zoe Saldana looked dramatic in a multi-tiered maroon dress with a sparkling top and long gloves on her arms.
