How are National award winners selected?

Today, the 71st National Film Awards were hosted at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. It was a terrific evening  for Indian films.

DD News and PIB India's YouTube page showed the historic ceremony to millions of people. President Droupadi Murmu,  gave out the awards in front of influential dignitaries and well known faces.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's event is still two years behind schedule, much like the prior few years. Even though the winners were revealed on August 1, today was the official day for the presentation.

Top awards and big gains:

The honours went to the best work in India's many different film industries. For his touching part in 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey won Best Actor. For Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan won Best Actor. Rani Mukerji's portrayal in Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway got her the Best Actress award.

Kathal won Best Hindi Film, while 12th Fail won the Best Feature Film award, which is quite hard to get. Bhagavanth Kesari won Best Telugu Film, Vash won Best Gujarati Film, and Parking won Best Tamil Feature Film. This also illustrates how amazing the regional film was.

For the Telugu movie Baby, PVNS Rohit got Best Male Playback Singer, while for the famous song "Chaleya" from Jawan, Shilpa Rao won Best Female Playback Singer.

Here are some more important points:

Best Director (Sudipto Sen) and Best Cinematography went to The Kerala Story. Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (Dhindora Baje Re) is the finest popular movie for families and has the best dance. Sam Bahadur is the best costume and makeup artist.

Best Sound Design (Hindi) for Animal and a Special Award for Re-Recording Mixer MR Rajakrishnan. Mohanlal and Karan Johar won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian film, for their work in the industry over the course of their lives.

How the National Awards work

The National Film Awards have three categories: Best Writing on Cinema, Non-Feature Films, and Feature Films. The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) picks a jury to judge the submissions on their own.

Strict regulations about who can enter make sure that everyone has a fair shot. For instance, only Indian-made movies directed by Indian citizens and approved by the Central Board of Film Certification during the qualifying year can enter.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest honor and is given for a lifetime of accomplishment in film that is unmatched. The victors in each group get a medal, a certificate, and prize money. The best prizes are the Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus), and then  is the Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus).

A history of greatness

The National Film Awards have been operating since 1954 and are now India's most renowned prize for exceptional movies. They celebrate innovation in numerous languages, locales, and genres. The NFDC is now in charge of the awards. The Directorate of Film Festivals used to be in charge of them. They are still the standard for Indian cinema's artistic, technical, and cultural achievements.

The 71st National Film Awards highlighted once more how movies can bring people together and inspire them through historic wins, moving speeches, and a celebration of Indian storytelling.
