Nani addresses national tensions at HIT 3 success meet

After HIT 3's May 1 theatrical release, Telugu actor Nani and the production team met in Hyderabad to celebrate the film's success. However, given the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the public's response to Nani's remarks during the event has been conflicting.

Nani spoke at the event about the current geopolitical climate, mentioning in particular Operation Sindoor and India's reaction to the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 innocent civilians. The actor disclosed that he thought about delaying the event because of the national sentiment but decided to go ahead.

He stated, "Let us talk about what’s happening in the country. Operation Sindoor and what followed next. I was speaking to the team today about whether it’s okay to have a success event in a sensitive time like this. But I immediately felt that the situation was sensitive because those people (terrorists) tried to create a problem for us. Our Indian Army responded to them with focus, in a dignified manner."

Nani further explained his decision, highlighting the need to show resilience in the face of such events. "Let’s not give them the satisfaction of even feeling that a success meet in some part of India was cancelled due to what they did. We have the responsibility of making a statement and showing them they weren’t able to touch us. Let’s salute the Indian Armed Forces and respect everyone fighting on the front lines. We are able to leave our homes and function normally only because of them," he added.

While many appreciated his patriotic sentiments, a section of social media users criticised Nani’s approach, accusing him of being insensitive. One user commented, “This is what happens when lot of people think these people are gods. They start believing it themselves.” Another wrote, “IPL eh cancel ayindi.. eedi over action ento (They cancelled IPL but this man is overacting).”

Despite the backlash, HIT 3, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, continues to perform well at the box office.
