Nagarjuna talks about his role in Coolie

In Tamil cinema, superstar Rajinikanth's eagerly awaited film Coolie, which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is already making waves. Actor Nagarjuna, who recently shared his thoughts on the project — and his character in it — has given the film, which is hailed as one of the biggest releases of the season, a significant boost in excitement.

Nagarjuna talked candidly about the experience of working on Coolie in an interview with film critic Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta's YouTube channel. He commended the film's energy and director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

"Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajini sir are the whistle factor," Nagarjuna stated. On the streets of Chennai, I observed how people approached Lokesh, whom I refer to as Loki. His fan base is really large.

"Everything is different in this film — my character, my look," he added, giving some additional insight into his role. The movie is a whistle, whistle, whistle. They did a great job packing it.

He also disclosed that the movie stars Upendra from the Kannada film industry and Aamir Khan from Hindi cinema, with all three actors portraying strong, noteworthy parts.

Nagarjuna contrasts directors Coolie and Kuberaa

Additionally, Nagarjuna will appear in Kuberaa, a bilingual movie directed by Sekhar Kammula and starring Dhanush. The seasoned actor compared the two films, saying, "Sir, you're walking like a hero," Sekhar Kammula said to me on the Kuberaa sets. However, Lokesh remarked, "Sir, walk like a tiger," on the Coolie sets.

He went on to say that although Lokesh's style is larger-than-life and Sekhar's films have a more realistic tone, both directors allowed him the creative freedom to mould his scenes, which he greatly valued.

Dates of Release and Upcoming Projects

Kuberaa, which co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, will be released in theatres on June 20, 2025. Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and starring a number of celebrities, including Nagarjuna, is set to be released in theaters on August 20, 2025. Fans have every reason to be thrilled as Nagarjuna is undoubtedly having a blockbuster year with two big films in his schedule.
