Comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui frequently made headlines for his controversial statements. However, the comedian recently criticized the Meerut police for their latest notice restricting people from offering Namaz on public roads during Eid.

Munawar reshared the notice on his Instagram Story and expressed his frustration over the issue. He wrote, “30 minutes ki namaz ke liye yeh? Kya ab koi bhi festival Bharat ke roads pe nahi hoga? (This for a 30-minute prayer? Will no festival in India now be allowed on the roads?)”

For the unversed, Meerut police have recently issued a warning to the people offering prayers on roads on the final Friday of Ramzan on March 28 and Eid-Ul-Fitr. The police threaten violators with legal action, including the cancellation of passports and driving licenses.

The police officials said, “If criminal cases are registered, passports and licenses can be cancelled, and obtaining a new passport would require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the court. These documents remain confiscated until the court grants clearance.”

However, this wasn’t the first time Munawar has been at the center of controversy, particularly regarding religious sentiments. Recently, his comedy show Hafta Vasooli sparked outrage among some viewers, who accused him of using offensive language and promoting obscenity.

Munawar’s show, which uses humor to address current political and cultural issues, faced criticism and calls for a boycott. Munawar has faced similar allegations in the past, including a 2021 arrest for allegedly offending religious sentiments during a stand-up comedy performance, for which he spent over a month in jail before being released on bail.
