Malayalam director Omar Lulu, who has made the hit film 'Oru Adaar Love', was accused by a young actess of sexual misconduct. Now the director, who has been granted bail by the Kerala High Court today, has responded to all the allegations and said it is an attempt to extort money from him.

The director spoke with OnManorama to present his side of the story to the world.

Omar Lulu has said that the allegations levelled against him are false and these are ways to extort money from him.

He alleges that the young actress, who was his friend, holds resentment towards him. He further said that he was good friends with the young actress and they would also go on trips together. He said but a few months ago a feud between the two led to strained ties and the two have not been in touch with each other for the past six months.

“I was friends with this girl for a long time. She was a person who accompanied me on many journeys. However, a rift happened in the friendship and we have not been in contact for the past six months," he told the online news site.

“Now, just when I commenced my new movie, she has come forward with such a complaint. The reason behind it could be anger at not being given a chance in the film. Or maybe, it is part of a blackmail attempt to extort money,” he alleged.

The Kerala High Court on Thursday (May 30) granted interim bail to Malayalam film director Omar Lulu in a rape case against him.

The relief was given to the director by Justice A Badharudeen on Lulu's plea seeking anticipatory bail in the case.

The complainant woman, reportedly a young actor, had sent the complaint to the Kochi City police commissioner, and after the FIR was registered, the case was transferred to the Nedumbassery police station under the Ernakulam rural police, as the crime was committed under its jurisdiction.
