Bollywood veteran and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Mithun Chakraborty is going to work with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in Jailer 2.
During a select media interaction on Tuesday afternoon, Mithun Da (as he is fondly called) spoke about his upcoming movies and said that he would be doing Coolie 2 with Rajinikanth.
Mithun replied to a reporter that he is doing many different kinds of roles. "Main Prabhas ke saath Fauji kar raha hoon, Rajinikanth ke saath Jailer 2 kar raha hoon, Prajapati 2 kar raha hoon, main har qism ki film karta hoon," said Mithun during the Q&A session.
Jailer 2 is a sequel to the 2023 hit film and it is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The movie is already being shot.

Rajinikanth has in the past worked with Mithun in the 1989 film 'Bhrastachar' and then in a Bengali film, 'Bhagya Devta' (1997)—both were special appearances.
Mithun's role in The Bengal Files
Mithun Chakraborty will be next seen in 'The Bengal Files', directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
During the course of the media interaction, Moneycontrol asked Mithun Chakraborty why he agreed to play such a complicated character and if his Bengali background had anything to do with it.
Mithun da gave an honest answer and said, "No, no, no, not just because I am a Bengali. I did this film because Vivek Agnihotri makes, writes, and shapes characters that truly need me," he stated.
The experienced actor faced significant challenges in this role, both physically and emotionally. Mithun da said, "When the character came to me, I initially said I wouldn’t be able to do it. It’s a tough role; his tongue was cut, his genitals mutilated, and people call him mad. He eats from the dustbin and sleeps anywhere. I kept wondering, how will this man even speak?"
Mithun Chakraborty also said that he wants to play the role of the revolutionary leader Che Guevara in his career. He also said he has been approached to play the role of Indian godman Osho, and talks are ongoing.
Talking about The Bengal Files, the movie is directed by Vivek Agnihotri, who gave the hard-hitting The Kashmir Files. The movie is going to release on September 5, 2025.
