Karthik Gattamneni's fantasy film Mirai opened in the theatres with positive reviews from the critics and audience. The film, which stars Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, and Ritika Nayak in the lead roles, also registered a strong opening day box office collection nationwide.
According to a trade website, Mirai earned Rs 12 crore net in India on Friday, September 12. The film registered an overall occupancy of 10.86% in Hindi and 68.59% in Telugu on its first day. Considering the buzz, the film is expected to perform well during its opening weekend.
Mirai has surpassed the record set by Teja Sejja's 2024 release of HanuMan to become the highest-grossing movie of his career. On its first day of release, HanuMan brought in Rs 8 crore net in India.
Mirai follows a young warrior who is tasked with protecting the nine sacred scriptures that can transform any mortal into a deity. The film explores human values and emotions such as compassion, ethics, hatred, and greed.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory, the film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Shriya Saran, Jayaram and others in key roles.
According to an excerpt of Mirai's review by Moneycontrol, Mirai gets right to the point, which is different from a lot of commercial acts. The plot quickly takes you into the world of the Nine and their guardians with stylish visuals, art design, and skilful stunt choreography. The interval block is one of the best parts of the movie, especially the wonderful bird scene.
The weapon realisation fight with VFX, Shriya's character reveal, and Manoj's flashback are all great parts that keep things moving in the second half. At times it feels like a cliché and goes on for too long, but the movie stays together because of its general story flow, well-done images, and strong acting.
