Singer Mika Singh landed in an awkward spot on social media after confusing filmmaker Priyadarshan’s retirement announcement with his death.
The singer, without thinking twice, dropped a solemn “Om Shanti” under a news post. Within minutes, fans rushed in to correct him — and the trolling began.
The confusion started when a news channel shared a report about Priyadarshan’s plans to step away from Bollywood after wrapping up a few projects. Mika mistook it for news of his demise and reacted with the traditional condolence comment. Screenshots of the blunder spread fast, and users didn’t hold back.
“mika paaji phir tight ho lia,” one comment read, poking fun at Mika’s oversight. Another added, “Oh zinda hain sir!” while someone else joked, “Paaji, abhi shaam hua hai, itna jaldi kyu?” The internet turned the mix-up into a meme fest, with Mika trending for all the wrong reasons.
Priyadarshan, known for classics like Hera Pheri and Hungama, recently mentioned that he was considering retirement after finishing films like Bhooth Bangla, Hera Pheri 3, and Haiwaan. “I’m getting tired,” the veteran admitted in an interview. Hardly a farewell to life — just to Bollywood.
This isn’t Mika’s first brush with controversy. Just a few weeks back, he stirred debate with a social media post about Sardaar Ji 3, which many believed was a jab at Diljit Dosanjh.
The singer had also voiced his concern over India-Pakistan ties, urging artists to “think twice” before collaborating across borders.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan continues to work and still directing.
