Abhinav Chandrachud, the lawyer who represented YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in the Supreme Court, said he was "personally disgusted" by the obscene remark on 'India's Got Latent' show. Chandrachud, the son of former Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, represented Allahbadia's plea, seeking clubbing of multiple FIRs against the YouTuber.
“As an officer of the court, I personally am disgusted by what the petitioner has said," he said, adding, "but whether it rises to the level of a criminal offence is another question”.
The Supreme Court, even though it granted interim protection to Allahbadia, pulled him up for his obscene remark and said he had something "very dirty" in his mind, which he “vomited” on the show.
"Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him," the court said.
Abhinav Chandrachud, in response to the Supreme Court's reprimand, argued that "people have entered the clinic of this mother posing as patients and threatened her." To this, Justice Surya Kant said, "He should be ashamed as to what he has done to his parents."
WHAT CHANDRACHUD SAID
“I personally am disgusted. But whether it rises to the level of criminal offence is another question,” said Chandrachud when asked by Justice Kant if he was defending the kind of statements made by Allahbadia. “There are complaints all over the country. Second FIR constitutes an abuse of process.”
“One of the co-accused has been threatened with acid attack. In Nupur's case, there were threats and the remarks were worse. The moment there is 2nd FIR, it constitutes an abuse of process.”
“Please see my interim application. "Ranveer Allahabadia ki zubaan kaatkar laane wale ko milega 5 lakhs ka inaam" is the threat”. Please see what former Indian WWE wrestler has said."
Chandrachud was referring to former WWE wrestler Sanga, also known as Saurav Gurjar, who had threatened the YouTuber.
“Some subscriber made a copy of a 10-second clip out of a 45-minute show. It was meant for adults...please see the petitioner's mother is a doctor, people are posing as patients, going to her and abusing."

Abhinav Chandrachud, the lawyer representing YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia in the Supreme Court, made headlines after expressing his personal disdain for an obscene remark made on the show India’s Got Latent.
Despite his strong personal views, he defended Ranveer Allahbadia’s legal plea seeking to club multiple FIRs filed against his client.
Chandrachud’s Reaction to the Controversy
During the court proceedings, Chandrachud stated, “As an officer of the court, I personally am disgusted by what the petitioner has said, but whether it rises to the level of a criminal offence is another question.” His statement came in response to Justice Surya Kant, who questioned whether he was defending the kind of statements made by his client Ranveer Allahbadia.
The Supreme Court, while granting interim protection to Allahbadia, did not hold back in its criticism of his remarks. The bench remarked, “Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him?”
Concerns Over Threats and Harassment
Chandrachud also highlighted the threats that Ranveer Allahbadia and his associates have been facing due to the controversy. He revealed in court that “one of the co-accused has been threatened with an acid attack.” He further mentioned, “Ranveer Allahabadia ki zubaan kaatkar laane wale ko milega 5 lakhs ka inaam” is the threat.
The lawyer also pointed out that the situation had escalated to the extent that Allahbadia’s mother, a doctor, was being harassed at her clinic. “Some subscriber made a copy of a 10-second clip out of a 45-minute show. It was meant for adults… please see the petitioner’s mother is a doctor, people are posing as patients, going to her and abusing,” he argued.
Additionally, Chandrachud cited a threat made by former WWE wrestler Sanga, also known as Saurav Gurjar, who allegedly made an aggressive statement against Allahbadia.
