Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko has been making headlines after two actresses came forward with serious allegations against him, claiming he misbehaved with them under the influence of drugs while on film sets.

As per Mathrubhumi reports, he will undergo treatment under the Kerala government’s de-addiction initiative, ‘Vimukthi,’ with the Excise Department monitoring his progress throughout the rehabilitation process.

One of the actresses, his Soothravakyam co-star Vincy Aloshious, officially lodged a complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce, accusing Chacko of drug use and inappropriate conduct during filming.

The arrest of a woman named Tasleema for selling marijuana at an Alappuzha resort marked a significant turning point in the case. She admitted to providing drugs to a number of Malayalam film industry celebrities while being questioned. Model-actress Soumya, actor Srinath Bhasi, and Shine Tom Chacko were arrested for interrogation after she confessed.

Earlier this month, FEFKA General Secretary B Unnikrishnan addressed the media, stating that the actor was given one final chance upon his request, acknowledging his youth and talent, and adding that such individuals shouldn’t be treated as criminals. He stressed that offering a chance for reform is the humane thing to do, but clarified that this compassionate approach should never be mistaken for weakness.

Last week, Chacko's situation deteriorated after he was allegedly involved in an incident during a drug bust at a Kochi hotel. After an extended interrogation, the actor was finally captured by the Kochi police on April 19, despite his alleged attempt to escape the scene.
