Malayalam actress Anaswara Rajan has responded to allegations made by 'Mr & Mrs Bachelor' director Deepu Karunakaran, who claimed that she didn't participate in any promotions of the movie.
He also said this led to the delay in the film's release as well. Anaswara denied all the claims and said she was the only cast member to promote the film before its scheduled release.
Anaswara made a long post in Malayalam on her Instagram account and shared that she wasn't informed about the release date change.
Talking about being absent from promotions as alleged by the director, she said: "I had already given an interview before the scheduled release date as part of the film’s promotions. The only online promotional interview available for this film is the one I did."
Anaswara stated that Deepu's statements could harm her career. She pointed out that he mentioned having issues with other actors, but only publicly criticised her.
"By selectively dragging my name into this issue - especially when I am relatively new to the industry and a woman - it seems he assumed I would not respond," she further mentioned.
Anaswara filed a complaint with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and is also preparing to take legal action if the defamatory statements continue. Anaswara said she is willing to promote the film if informed in advance.
The film 'Mr & Mrs Bachelor', starring Indrajith Sukumaran and Anaswara Rajan, was postponed from its original August 23, 2024 release date. A new release date will be announced soon.
