Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is riding on the success and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has just given it another boost. Eknath Shinde attended the special screening of the period drama which was held on Wednesday to celebrate the 395th birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The Deputy CM praised the film’s cast and crew and appreciated bringing forward the true story of Shivaji Maharaj. Shinde also addressed whether the government will make Chhaava tax-free. Goa and Madhya Pradesh have already declared the film tax-free.
Eknath Shinde said, “Today is the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj… I want to thank the film's team and Vicky Kaushal for bringing the story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to everyone.” However, when he was asked about the demand to make Chhaava tax-free, he said, “The government will take the necessary steps."

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also praised the film and its representation of history. He was impressed by how beautifully the makers of the film have highlighted historical events without altering any facts.
Chhaava was released on February 14 and has been enjoying massive box-office success. The film notably collected Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office during the premiere weekend and is soon expected to cross the Rs 200 crore mark. The film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
