The live-action remake of the original animated film Lilo and Stitch is officially making its way to the streaming platform. The film was released on May 23 and enjoyed a successful run at the box office.
However, the official social media handle of Disney Studios has recently announced that the film will be released on September 3 on Disney. The makers shared a trailer of the film with the caption, “perfect day... of chaos #LiloAndStitch is available September 3 on @disneyplus.”
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, live-action Lilo and Stitch is inspired by the 2002 animated film. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and earned $1.025 billion.
The film features a stellar voice cast including David Kawena, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance and Hannah Waddingham. The film also features original voice actors Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee and Chris Sanders.
For the unversed, the new Lilo & Stitch is set in Hawaii and revolves around a young girl, Lilo, played by Maia Kealoha, and her older sister and legal guardian, Nani aka Kaipot Dudoit.
However, the film took a dramatic turn after Lilo adopts Stitch, a genetically engineered alien who crash-lands on Earth and pretends to be a dog.
