Actress Lakshmi Manchu recently accused IndiGo Airlines of harassing her during a bag check at the airport. In a series of social media posts, she detailed her unpleasant experience, calling out the airline’s staff for what she described as an invasive and disrespectful interaction. Manchu's tweets have sparked significant attention, as she shared her frustration with the handling of her luggage during her domestic flight.

According to Lakshmi Manchu, she was stopped for a routine security check while traveling with IndiGo. However, things quickly escalated when the airline’s ground staff reportedly insisted on inspecting her bag in an aggressive and controlling manner. Manchu claimed that the staff would not allow her to open her bag to show them its contents, stating, “My bag pulled aside and @IndiGo6E and they won’t let me open my bag. They insist to do it or else my bag will be left in Goa, someone help!!! Flt 6e585..this is ridiculous, and the staff is being extremely rude."

Adding to her frustration, Lakshmi stated that the staff did not place a security tag on her bag after the inspection, which she felt was an additional violation of trust. She wrote, “This is harassment @IndiGo6E after all that they did not even put a security tag in front of my eyes. In spite of insisting that they would do so if anything is missing, I doubt Indigo will take any responsibility. How is this even possible to run an airline like this?"

The actress went on to share more details about the distressing incident, including other passengers being pulled aside for personal items like sleep apnea machines and cutlery, further heightening her sense of mistreatment. She said, “They pulled people aside for sleep apnea machine! Spoon fork and knife cutlery! One of the girls had to leave her luggage cos they couldn’t go thru her bag on time!!!!!! Ok I’m done! @IndiGo6E loves making you feel violated…”

In response to the actress’s accusations, IndiGo Airlines acknowledged the inconvenience and clarified their position. The airline explained in a tweet, “Ma’am, we understand the inconvenience you experienced this morning. As per our records, your checked-in bag was detained by the airport security, deployed by the airport operator, due to strict regulations on carrying prohibited items in check-in luggage.” IndiGo also expressed gratitude for her cooperation with the team and security personnel during the incident.

Lakshmi Manchu, who was last seen in the Disney+ Hotstar web series Yakshini, has yet to comment further on the airline’s response. Her social media posts, however, have sparked a conversation about passenger rights and the treatment individuals receive during airport security checks.
