Kriti Sanon auditioned 10 actors before choosing Shaheer Sheikh for Do Patti, reveals Kanika Dhillon

Scheduled for release on Netflix on October 25, 2024, this project marks Kriti's debut as a producer.

At the trailer launch of Do Patti, Kriti Sanon, Kajol, Kanika Dhillon, and Shaheer Sheikh made a captivating appearance. During the event, writer Kanika Dhillon shared an interesting story about the casting process, revealing how Shaheer Sheikh was ultimately chosen to star opposite Kriti Sanon.

She recounted that during the audition process for the role of Dhruv, Kriti, who also served as a producer for the film, took it upon herself to personally audition the final ten candidates to find the ideal match. Ultimately, Shaheer Sheikh was selected for the role due to his talent for capturing the character's nuances and the undeniable chemistry he shared with Kriti on screen.

While explaining the entire process, Kanika said, "Just an example of how hands-on Kriti was. Kriti’s like, ‘Last 10 rounds, I’ll audition with 10 people’. And those last 10 people left, Kriti herself went and auditioned with each of those 10 candidates, did that scene over and over. Adhe toh ghabra gaye ke Kriti audition karne ayi hai!" To this, Kriti said, "To be honest, I think it was so important to find the current Dhruv. You know, because again, the character has so many layers. And the chemistry has to work in a certain way. So, I was glad that we did the audition."

She further added that during the audition process with Shaheer, she sensed that their chemistry was evident. She felt that he was effectively embodying the character's various nuances and believed he was performing exceptionally well.

Do Patti is set in the fictional town of Devipur and unfolds a gripping murder mystery infused with suspense, excitement, and drama. Kajol takes on the role of a determined police officer tasked with unraveling the case. Kriti Sanon's character, Saumya, and Shaheer Sheikh's Dhruv, are a couple deeply in love. However, their relationship is tested when Saumya's twin sister arrives, wreaking havoc in their personal and marital lives.
