It has been six years since the explosive Burning Sun Scandal rattled the Korean entertainment industry, exposing a sprawling network of sex crimes, police corruption, and misconduct involving celebrities, businessmen, and club officials. Among the many names swept into the controversy was actress Park Han Byul. Her life and career changed dramatically due to her husband’s deep involvement in the case.

Park, who married Yoo In Seok, the former CEO of Yuri Holdings, in 2017, found herself under intense public scrutiny in 2019 when Yoo became a central figure in the scandal. He was accused of embezzlement, prostitution mediation, violating the Food Sanitation Act, and breaching laws related to aggravated economic crimes. The backlash against him quickly extended to Park, forcing her to withdraw from the spotlight.

Following the controversy, Park reportedly sold all her Seoul properties and relocated to Jeju Island with her husband and their two children. Though she stepped away from acting, she did not disappear entirely. In recent years, Park has built a quiet but active life as a YouTuber while also running a small café in Jeju, where she often shares updates about her daily routine and struggles.

In one popular Q&A video, Park answered candidly when asked where she spends extra money on personal indulgences. Her response surprised many as she explained that her business earnings are too modest for luxuries. She admitted that managing finances is the most challenging part of running a café and revealed that, “If I had money, I’d use it on food.”

Park also spoke affectionately about her mother, who helps her at the café without pay. She shared that if she ever had one million KRW to spare, she would give it to her mother, saying she wants her to have it as an allowance.

In the year 2024 and 2025, Park finally began stepping back into public life. She shared photos from vacations and golf outings, signaling a happier chapter. More importantly, she made her long-awaited return to acting in the NBS special K-drama You Who Came From The Farm.

In April, Park addressed her husband’s involvement in the Burning Sun scandal directly on television for the first time. She was praised for her honesty.
