BTS member Kim Taehyung, also known as V, has set social media abuzz after he skipped the usual fan-service moments during a recent TIRTIR pop-up event in Los Angeles.
His move has drawn a wave of humorous and appreciative reactions from fans. Rather than playing to the crowd, he kept things casual and kept his distance.
During the event, Taehyung opted for minimal interactions, surprising many who were expecting predictable idol behaviour. Instead of exaggerated poses or flamboyant greetings, he maintained composure, and gave fans a more grounded presence.
This understated approach ignited a flurry of comments online. Many fans jokingly noted how he “does NOT support delusions” when it comes to over-the-top idol antics.
One fan tweeted in jest, “He’s not here for theatrics—he’s here for authenticity. No fan-service circus, just Tae being Tae.” Another shared on X, “V showing up this chill? Love it. He doesn’t owe us dramatic bows or heart hands every time.”

For longtime fans, this wasn’t out of character. V has often called out excessive “shipping” and romantic interpretations of his interactions.
In a past Weverse live, he pushed back against fans who read too deeply into his friendships, saying some of their speculations felt like “delusional fantasies.” He has repeatedly asserted that not every moment is meant to be performative or symbolic.
This isn’t the first time V has emphasised boundaries. In another incident, he defended his privacy after being mobbed by fans at an airport. During a Weverse session, he quietly urged them to “be safe next time.”
One fan put it wryly, “He came. He smiled. He didn’t do fan service. And somehow, that’s the most V thing ever.”
