Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas returns to the silver screen with the highly anticipated horror mystery, Kishkindhapuri. The film opened in the theatres with a modest collection.
According to a trade website, Kishkindhapuri earned RTs 2 crore net in India on Day 1. The film registered an overall 37.05% Telugu occupancy with 27.24% morning, 29.96% afternoon, 33.32% evening and 57.66% night shows.
The film received tough competition from Teja Sajja’s adventure fantasy Mirai, which was released in the theatres on the same day. Mirai earned Rs 12 crore net in India on Friday, September 12.
The film follows visitors who enter an old radio station during a ghost tour. They unknowingly disturb a dormant spirit and get trapped inside. They must find a way to escape as supernatural forces threaten their lives.
Directed by Koushik Pegallapati, the film is produced by Sahu Garipati. The film also stars Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role. Moneycontrol has given Kishkindhapuri a rating of 3 out of 5.
According to Moneycontrol, Kishkindhapuri is a real horror film that sticks to its genre and doesn't use any unnecessary tricks. Even if it has several problems, it keeps people intrigued with good scares, solid technological support, and great acting by Sreenivas and Anupama. Horror aficionados looking for a fresh Telugu thriller would find it worth seeing, even though the scenes are rushed and the movie doesn't have any emotional impact.
The movie's short running time makes certain essential details seem rushed, which is a problem. The climax gives the hero an interesting internal battle, but it ends too fast, so there isn't much room for emotional depth. The earlier parts are very slow. The movie may have been better if it had more details and made you feel more strongly.
