Vijay Deverakonda's much-anticipated action-drama Kingdom, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, has made a solid impact at the box office, despite the star’s recent string of underwhelming performances.

Released in cinemas on Thursday, the film marked a crucial moment in Vijay’s career and was met with largely positive reviews from both critics and audiences. With an extended weekend window in its favour, Kingdom has managed to build steady momentum, raking in a total of ₹40.5 crore over four days.

The film had an impressive start on its opening day (Thursday), collecting ₹18 crore, with Telugu audiences contributing the lion’s share at ₹17.25 crore. However, collections dipped on Friday to ₹7.5 crore, before climbing slightly on Saturday to ₹8 crore. Sunday’s early estimates suggest the film added another ₹7 crore to its total.

While the film is yet to surpass the lifetime earnings of Vijay’s earlier pan-India venture Liger—which grossed ₹41.17 crore—it is inching closer with each passing day.

Kingdom also posted decent occupancy across Telugu 2D screenings on Sunday, with peak interest observed during the afternoon shows (53.28%) and evening slots (50.52%). Morning and night screenings saw 30.86% and 36.88% occupancy, respectively.

The story follows Suri, a constable-turned-spy played by Vijay, who embarks on a covert mission to Sri Lanka in search of his estranged brother Siva, portrayed by Satyadev. Venkitesh features as Murugan, while Bhagyashri Borse plays Dr Madhu. The film ends on a suspenseful note, paving the way for a sequel.

Producer Naga Vamsi expressed pride in the film’s scale and execution: “I can proudly say that no film released in 2025 in the last seven months was this technically brilliant. We made this film to Hollywood film standards.” He also confirmed that a sequel is on the cards once Vijay completes his ongoing projects.
