Kim Soo-hyun's legal team completes police investigation in Kim Sae Ron death case

Actor Kim Soo-hyun's legal team has completed a police investigation regarding false allegations made in connection with the late actress Kim Sae-ron. On June 30, during a regular press briefing, the police confirmed that they are coordinating the appearance of suspects after concluding the investigation involving Kim Soo-hyun’s legal representative.

While Kim Soo-hyun himself was not questioned by the police, his legal agent visited the station and fulfilled the necessary investigation procedures. The police are now expected to summon Kim Se-eui, the operator of the controversial YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (commonly known as Gaseyeon), for questioning. Kim Soo-hyun's legal team had previously filed a defamation complaint on June 23 against both Kim Se-eui and the bereaved family of the late Kim Sae-ron, accusing them of spreading false information and defamatory statements.

The controversy stems from claims made by the bereaved family of Kim Sae-ron after her death on February 16, 2025, at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. She was 25 years old. Following her funeral, Gaseyeon published allegations that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron for six years, beginning when she was just 15 years old.

In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team strongly denied the accusations, stating that no such relationship existed during the time the actress was a minor. They filed complaints under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act and the Information and Communication Network Act. In addition, they have initiated a civil lawsuit seeking 12 billion won in damages.

Further controversy arose when Gaseyeon claimed in a press conference that a whistleblower surnamed “A” had been violently attacked in New Jersey for revealing details about Kim Sae-ron’s alleged underage relationship. It was initially claimed A had been stabbed nine times. However, this claim was quickly discredited when A revised his statement, later saying he had only injured his arm. Medical documents confirmed injuries to the right shoulder and left hand—raising serious doubts about the credibility of the story.

Kim Soo-hyun’s legal team responded, stating the audio file used to support these claims was fabricated using AI and that the alleged assault photo was a recycled image found online. They emphasized that the narrative was deliberately manufactured to tarnish the actor’s reputation.

In a strong statement, Kim Soo-hyun’s representatives accused both Kim Se-eui and Kim Sae-ron’s family of submitting a false criminal complaint based on forged evidence, describing it as a serious legal offense. They added that further legal action would be pursued to ensure those responsible are held fully accountable.
