South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has come under scrutiny after an Instagram post from February 16 resurfaced following the passing of actress Kim Sae-ron. The post, which featured photos from his birthday celebration, drew criticism for its timing, as it coincided with the day Kim Sae-ron was found deceased.

In the post, Kim Soo-hyun expressed gratitude to his fans for their support and well-wishes. However, following allegations made by Kim Sae-ron’s family, social media users began questioning his involvement in the late actress's struggles.

On March 10, the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute aired a video featuring claims from Kim Sae-ron’s aunt. She alleged that the actress had been in a secret relationship with Kim Soo-hyun for six years, beginning when she was just 15. According to her, Kim Soo-hyun distanced himself from Kim Sae-ron following her 2022 DUI incident, which reportedly worsened her financial troubles. She further suggested that his agency, Gold Medalist, played a role in her difficulties.

The controversy deepened as Garosero Research Institute accused Kim Soo-hyun of potentially avoiding legal action, drawing parallels to previous cases involving BTS.

Gold Medalist swiftly denied the accusations, stating, "The claims made by Garosero Research Institute regarding Kim Soo-hyun on YouTube today are completely false."

Kim Sae-ron, best known for her roles in Listen to My Heart, The Queen’s Classroom, and Hi! School-Love On, was found dead at the age of 24 in her Seoul residence.

Following her passing, Kim Sae-ron’s father spoke out, attributing her distress to online content. During her funeral, he claimed that a YouTuber had uploaded videos criticising his daughter, including one speculating about her relationship status due to the wedding-themed photos she had posted. The video reportedly accused her of going into hiding after rumours of marriage surfaced. The same creator had also released content questioning her financial difficulties and sincerity.

The controversial video has since been removed, and Kim Sae-ron’s family is reportedly considering legal action against the YouTuber for contributing to her emotional turmoil.
