Gold Medalist confirms Kim Soo-hyun and late actor Kim Sae-ron’s relationship, denies underage dating scandal

Kim Soo-hyun and late actress Kim Sae-ron were reportedly dating

South Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun has recently made headlines for his controversial relationship with late actress, Kim Sae-ron. Soo-hyun’s agency Gold Medalist, who previously declined the allegations, has recently issued an official statement.

The agency released the statement on March 14 in which Soo-hyun admitted that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron. However, he denied that the relationship took place when the actress was a minor. He claimed that they were together for a little over a year after she turned 19, the age considered adulthood under Korean law.

The statement read: “Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship from the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae-ron became an adult.”

At that time, Sae-ron would have been between 19 and 20 years old, while he would have been between 31 and 32 years old. The statement continued, “It is not true that Kim Soo-hyun was in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.”

For the unaware, Soo-hyun is accused of being involved in an alleged underage dating scandal involving the late actress Kim Sae-ron, who died this year at the age of 24.

Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home on February 16, coincidentally it was Kim Soo-hyun's birthday. Her death followed a drunk driving incident in 2022 that impacted her career. The police later confirmed her death as a suicide.

On March 10, a South Korean YouTube channel, Garosero Research Institute, released a video alleging a six-year relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron, starting when she was 15 and he was 27. Gold Medalist denied these claims and announced plans to file a lawsuit against the channel.
