Karan Johar’s latest Instagram post had everyone in splits this weekend. The clip shows his son Yash proudly flaunting a bright blue T-shirt that reads “Nepo baby,” but with a twist—he cheekily insists he doesn’t want to be launched, leaving dad both amused and slightly bewildered.
“Oh my god, do you know what this T-shirt says, that you are a nepo baby?” Karan asks in the clip, pointing his phone camera toward Yash. But the toddler wasn’t about to be told what to do. With a cheeky grin, Yash quips, “Yeah, but I don’t want to be launched!” And just like that, he runs off, leaving Karan stunned. “What! Who is launching you anyway?” the filmmaker asks, laughing at his son’s independent streak.
Karan shared in the caption that the T-shirts were a gift from a female actor but cheekily refused to reveal her name, saying she made him promise to keep it a secret. “He has a mind of his own. I am HAPPY!!! Ps..T shirts gifted to the twins by •••••• (oops she made me promise I won’t tell),” he wrote.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the father-son moment, with many commenting on Yash’s early signs of a bold personality. The clip also shows that while he may be a “nepo baby” by birth, he’s clearly carving his own path—at least for now.

For context, Karan Johar welcomed twins Yash and Roohi via surrogacy in February 2017. Yash is named after Karan’s late father, Yash Johar, while Roohi is an anagram of his mother Hiroo’s name. In 2019, Karan had opened up on Pinch by Arbaaz Khan about the joys and challenges of being a single parent.
With moments like these, it’s clear that Yash already has a mind of his own, keeping fans—and dad—entertained.
