Kangana Ranaut, known for her bold choices and fearless performances, recently shared her admiration for legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt.

In an interview, the actor-director expressed her deep respect for Dutt's artistry and revealed her aspiration to create films that echo the timeless brilliance of his work.

Kangana passionately spoke about Dutt's influence on Indian cinema, calling him one of the greatest filmmakers in history. "There is no greater filmmaker in our history than Guru Dutt," she said.

"He was so important, and his passion was brilliant. If I could meet him, I would request him to direct me in his films," Her words reflected her appreciation of his visionary approach to storytelling, which continues to inspire generations of filmmakers and actors alike.

She highlighted the technical and narrative brilliance of Guru Dutt's films, "Watch Mr. and Mrs. 55—the way he made a comedy film and directed it, his acting... his films like Kagaz Ke Phool and Pyaasa, what brilliant shots he has given. The shadow shot where he was moving and the shadow came in was a revolutionary shot as a technician. He was tremendous. He was so intelligent.”, emphasizing how Dutt's intelligence and creativity set him apart as a filmmaker.

Kangana also expressed her admiration for Waheeda Rehman's role in Guide, a character she found particularly powerful and ahead of its time.

She hopes to create similarly layered and meaningful roles in her own films, aspiring to the emotional depth and visual sophistication that Guru Dutt's work embodied.

Though she never had the chance to work with the legendary filmmaker, Kangana envisions her own career carrying the same emotional weight and artistic innovation that Dutt brought to his films.

Her upcoming film Emergency is a testament to her ongoing exploration of complex narratives, showcasing her evolution as a filmmaker.

Originally set to release on September 6, Emergency is currently on hold due to delays in CBFC clearance. Nonetheless, the anticipation for Kangana’s next directorial venture continues to build, as fans eagerly await her tribute to powerful cinema.
