Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman, and team launch 'Jinguchaa' — The wedding anthem from Thug Life

The first single from the eagerly awaited movie Thug Life, Jinguchaa, was formally released on April 18, 2025, at Chennai's Kalaivanar Arangam, which hosted a lavish musical celebration. Stars Silambarasan TR, Trisha Krishnan, Joju George, and Ashok Selvan joined film legends Kamal Haasan, Mani Ratnam, and A.R. Rahman at the event, which signalled the start of an exciting cinematic adventure.

One of the most ambitious joint ventures in Indian cinema to date, Thug Life is directed by the renowned Mani Ratnam and produced by Siva Ananth, Madras Talkies, R. Mahendran, and Raaj Kamal Films International. Both in front of and behind the camera, the movie features an impressive crew.

Jinguchaa, set against the vibrant backdrop of a traditional wedding, is a lively and infectious number composed by A.R. Rahman. The song features Kamal Haasan and Silambarasan TR (Simbu) matching steps to folk-inspired beats with a contemporary twist.

Kamal Haasan, donning an elegant blue sherwani, brings his trademark grace to the dance, while actress Sanya impresses as she shares the screen with Simbu in a perfectly choreographed sequence. The Tamil lyrics, written by Kamal Haasan himself, add a playful and celebratory energy to the track.

During the launch event, the film’s global distribution partners were also announced. Red Giant Movies will handle distribution across Tamil Nadu; AP International and Home Screen Entertainment for overseas markets; Pen Marudhar Cine Entertainment in North India; Sreshth Movies for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; and Five Star Senthil for Karnataka.

Saregama has secured the film’s audio rights, while Netflix has been confirmed as the official OTT partner. Thug Life is set for a global theatrical release on 5 June 2025.

The team also announced the Thug Life Festival, to be held in Sydney on 23 May 2025 in collaboration with Just Grow Productions, with a live performance by A.R. Rahman.
