The recent box office performance of Kalki 2898 AD has been noteworthy, especially considering the competitive landscape of Indian cinema. Directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas, this epic sci-fi film has amassed significant collections since its release.
On the fifth day of its release, Kalki 2898 AD made Rs 34.6 crore nett in India, bringing its domestic nett collection to a total of Rs 343.6 crore after five days. The film witnessed a notable drop in its collections on its first Monday, following a strong start with Rs 555 crore gross worldwide within the first four days.
The film’s performance in different regions shows a varied trend. For instance, on Sunday, the Telugu version of Kalki collected Rs 38.8 crore, which significantly dropped to Rs 14.5 crore on Monday, recording a decrease of 62.6 percent. The occupancy rate in the Telugu regions on Monday stood at 47.18 percent. Similarly, in the Hindi market, the film collected Rs 40 crore on Sunday but saw a decrease to Rs 16.5 crore on Monday, recording a decrease of 58.7 percent.

Internationally, Kalki 2898 AD has also made its mark. In Russia, the film grossed 1,247,662 rubles, while in Germany it made 251,287 euros. Other international collections include 64,296 euros in Ireland, 53,300 euros in France, 43,220 krone in Norway, and 81,500 Polish zloty in Poland. In North America, the film grossed $11 million during its first weekend.
Despite its significant earnings, Kalki 2898 AD trails behind previous blockbusters such as Baahubali 2 and RRR. Baahubali 2 had collected Rs 705 crore at the global box office after five days, while RRR had collected Rs 618 crore. KGF 2 had collected Rs 609.7 crore in the same timeframe.
Kalki 2898 AD is the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 so far, delivering the third-biggest domestic opening of all time. The film features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, with special appearances by SS Rajamouli, Dulquer Salmaan, and Vijay Deverakonda, among others.
