Bollywood actors John Abraham and Varun Dhawan are reuniting for an exciting sequel to the 2016 film Dishoom. However, Akshay Kumar is also speculated to join the cast of the action comedy.
According to Filmfare, an industry insider has revealed that the creators wanted to make a sequel to the film for a very long time, and Akshay's joining the project is moving the production faster.
The source said, “The Dishoom sequel has been overdue for many years now. The team behind the 2016 hit wanted to make this film for a while now but their plan to go bigger and bolder was just not able to materialise. But with Akshay Kumar agreeing to be part of the sequel, things seem to be falling into place.”
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Dishoom was directed by Varun Dhawan's brother Rohit Dhawan. Notably, Rohit had previously directed John Abraham and Akshay Kumar in Desi Boyz (2011).
Meanwhile, the makers have not officially confirmed the project yet.
Dishoom also stars Jacqueline Fernandez in the key role. The film follows Kabir and Junaid, two policemen at odds with each other, who embark on a mission to the Middle East to rescue Viraj, a leading cricketer who has been kidnapped.
Meanwhile, Akshay and Varun have a series of exciting line-ups ahead. Akshay is all set to star in Sajid Nadiadwala’s Housefull 5, alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Chunky Pandey, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri and more.
Varun Dhawan will next be seen in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Ekkis and Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
