In February 2025, ABC confirmed that The Bachelorette would not air in July as it has for the past three seasons. Although the show has not been cancelled, Deadline reported that it is unlikely to return this year.
“The good news is I know it’s not going away,” Bachelor franchise host Jesse Palmer clarified during a February 2025 episode of the Playing the Field podcast.
“I know it’s definitely coming back. Without being able to get into too much of the creative decisions on it, I know that when it does [return], I just think it’s going to be absolutely tremendous.” He also added that a summer break for the show was “not unprecedented.”
Despite this, ABC has yet to explain why the series is taking a break.
However, following the announcement, multiple former and current crew members claimed to Deadline that the franchise had become a "toxic" and "hostile" work environment under the leadership of showrunners/executive producers Claire Freeland and Bennett Graebner.
These individuals alleged that since taking over from creator Mike Fleiss in 2023, the producers used verbal and mental abuse, mind games, lack of communication, and a “fear” approach to run the franchise. A spokesperson for Warner Bros Television Group stated they were investigating the complaints, while Michael Weinsten, counsel for Freeland and Graebner, expressed that the producers were “stunned and saddened” by the allegations.
In March 2025, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that two co-executive producers, Michael Margolis and Keely Booth, had left the series. A week later, it was reported that Freeland and Graebner had also exited.
With no release date set for The Bachelorette season 22, the show's return remains uncertain, though some believe the break might provide an opportunity for a more visible return. As Jenn Tran, season 21's Bachelorette, said, “The Bachelorette does usually air in the summer when people are travelling — I heard that it doesn't do as well as The Bachelor.”
While fans await further details, Bachelor in Paradise season 10 is set to return in 2025, though its premiere date is yet to be announced.
