Nickelodeon’s iCarly actress Jennette McCurdy's life is coming to the small screen. Apple TV+ has recently announced on social media that McCurdy's memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, is all set to be adapted into a dramedy series for the streamer.
The streaming platform has also revealed who will portray McCurdy's mother. Friends fame actress Jennifer Aniston is all set to play the role of a fictionalised version of McCurdy's overbearing, "narcissistic" mother. She will also executive produce the show.
Apple TV+ shared a photo of Jennifer and announced in the caption, “Jennifer Aniston stars in a new series based on Jennette McCurdy’s best-selling coming-of-age memoir. Written, executive produced and showrun by McCurdy and Ari Katcher.
The caption continued, "Jennifer Aniston, Sharon Horgan and Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay to executive produce.”
However, McCurdy also took to her Instagram and expressed her excitement about the announcement. She wrote, “so excited + honored that i get to create, write, and showrun this show and work with this incredible group of people. @appletv @jenniferaniston @sharonhorgan @luckychap.”
The upcoming 10-episode series is inspired by Jennette McCurdy's memoir. However, the new series will be a more fictionalised version of its events.
According to People, I’m Glad My Mom Died plot will "center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kids' show and her narcissistic mother.” The synopsis further revealed that Aniston's character "relishes in her identity as 'a starlet’s mother.’’

For the unversed, McCurdy's real mother, Debra, died in 2013. Meanwhile, she alleged in her memoir that she was forced into acting by her mom and dealt with years of trauma and exploitation, published in 2022 with Simon & Schuster.
On the work front, McCurdy rose to fame with Nickelodeon’s iCarly and went on to star in several TV shows and movies.
