Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston has recently opened up about her infertility experience, her choice not to adopt, and the difficulties she has encountered in the spotlight.
In a recent podcast episode of Armchair Expert, the actress addressed years of rumours about her family plans. Jennifer also shared her thoughts on motherhood.
Reacting to the public criticism regarding her decisions, she openly discussed trying different ways to conceive, including in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
She talked about the suggestions for adoption. Jennifer Aniston shared, “When people say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt.”
The actress further elaborated on her wish to have a biological connection to a child and said, “I want my own DNA in a little person. That's the only way, selfish or not, whatever that is, I've wanted it.”
Recalling the extent of her fertility journey, Jennifer got candid about her attempts to conceive.
She said, "All the years and years and years of speculation It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favour.’ You just don’t think [about] it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed."
The actress also reflected on the emotional toll that affected her after she realised that parenthood was not part of her story.
She remarked, "It just wasn’t in the plan, whatever the plan was. It’s very emotional, especially in the moment when they say ‘that’s it,’ because there is a weird moment when that happens. Sometimes, the thought of having children would arise, but it would ‘pass within three seconds.’"
Jennifer Aniston has frequently made headlines for her high-profile relationships and divorce. The actress is currently dating Jim Curtis, who is a wellness coach, author, and hypnotherapist.
