BTS member J-Hope, whose real name is Jung Hoseok, has returned to the world music scene with a bang and a bang after a period of introspection after his military discharge.

The release of two powerful non-album singles, Sweet Dreams (featuring Miguel) on March 7 and Mona Lisa on March 21, respectively, marked the beginning of his incredible comeback.

Both songs demonstrated his development as a soloist and highlighted his musical versatility and inventiveness.

Following this musical renaissance, J-Hope started his first solo world tour, Hope on the Stage, in February, starting with a string of exuberant shows in South Korea. With upcoming performances planned in Taiwan and Japan as well as a grand finale back in South Korea in mid-June, the tour—which is getting fantastic reviews—continues to enthral fans throughout Asia.

As he traverses the post-military phase of his career, every performance is a celebration of his development as a person and an artist.

However, when J-Hope was announced as the cover star of the May issue of Billboard magazine, his momentum reached yet another peak.

The magazine revealed the first official image on May 21st, confirming that J-Hope is only the second South Korean male solo artist to appear on its cover, after PSY in 2012. This honour continues BTS's history with Billboard, where the group has been featured twice before.

In an emotional interview with Billboard Korea, J-Hope considered the moment's importance. It still feels incredible and thrilling to have my own music recognised by Billboard. Recalling his early days of chart-following, he said, "To me, Billboard still feels like a dream, and the incredible thing is, that dream is still unfolding."

Discussing his solo journey during BTS’s group hiatus, J-Hope noted that he found inspiration from artists he has long admired. Yet amid the fame and fanfare, his aspirations remain grounded. “Above all, I hope to continue growing into an artist who brings light and encouragement to others wherever I go,” he said.

Addressing the challenges of headlining alone, he added, “This time, I was on my own, and honestly, I wondered if I could handle that immense energy and pressure by myself. But I pulled it off, and that means a lot to me — it’s a milestone I’ll always cherish.”

Later this year, J-Hope and the other members of BTS are expected to get back together and make their eagerly awaited return. Fans' anticipation for the group's comeback to the international scene is growing as each member progressively completes their required military service.

While each member has been exploring solo projects during the hiatus, the upcoming reunion promises to bring BTS back in full force with new music, fresh energy, and a renewed bond. ARMY across the world are eagerly counting down the days to what could be one of the biggest musical events of the year.
