If there’s one series that masterfully blends high fashion, sharp wit, and a whirlwind of emotional chaos — it’s Materialists. And if an Indian adaptation were ever to grace our screens, the casting dream team is already clear, would be very much interesting to see.
The cast can seemingly include Aditya Roy Kapur, Kriti Sanon, and Hrithik Roshan — a trio that effortlessly combines style, depth, and magnetic screen presence.
Aditya is the kind of subtly passionate character that wins people over without even trying, making her the ideal match for the Chris Evans-inspired Spenser.
Jeff, a man who has experienced life in all its facets but still yearns for something more, would be a perfect fit for Hrithik Roshan's effortless charm and subtle gravitas.
Kriti Sanon would shine in the role of Luna because she is fierce, ambitious, emotionally complex, and remarkably real. Her performance would give the part depths of strength and vulnerability, making Luna as memorable as she is relatable.
But this wouldn't be just a remake — it would be a reimagination. One steeped in the opulence of Indian aesthetics, with a tone that’s glamorous yet introspective, moody yet magnetic — a fresh take that would feel both culturally rooted and universally appealing.
At its core, Materialists is the story of a shrewd New York matchmaker whose successful business is upended when she is torn between the unresolved pull of an imperfect ex and the attraction of the perfect partner. The story could explore these emotional tensions in its Indian avatar with a unique flavour, creating a show that is both stylish and soul-stirring, making it impossible to look away from and dangerously addictive.
Directed by Celine Song, the film stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. It released on June 13, 2025. The film has earned Rs 180 crore at the box office worldwide and has received mixed reviews.
