Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his fan-favourite role as Major Kabir, is back in the spotlight — not only for returning to the high-octane action of War 2, but also for signing one of the most lucrative actor deals in recent memory.
As the film readies for a grand Independence Day release on 14 August, excitement is building not just around the film's scale, but also its staggering talent fees.
Trade rumours claim that Hrithik Roshan has inked a special back-end deal with Yash Raj Films that will bring in more than ₹100 crore for him.
According to sources, the agreement includes an upfront payment of Rs 50 crore along with a generous profit-sharing provision that could propel his total compensation well over the century mark.
If this is said to true, he will now be the highest-paid actor in the ensemble cast, which also includes Ashutosh Rana, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and South megastar Jr. NTR.
Trade predicts Hrithik Roshan's remuneration to be 100 crore or more for War 2; Highest amongst the lead cast.
This strategic financial arrangement is similar to the actor's prior deal on War (2019), in which he received a sizable portion of the movie's earnings.
That movie solidified Hrithik's status as a dominant force in the action genre and ended up being the highest grossing movie of the year. His reappearance in YRF's growing Spy Universe six years later is anticipated to further enhance the franchise.
The fact that War 2 is Jr. NTR's first Hindi film and aims to increase the franchise's appeal throughout India makes it noteworthy as well.
But despite Jr. NTR's sizable fan base, Hrithik Roshan still rules, particularly in the southern states where Krrish is still a huge hit.
As per reports, Jr. NTR has drawn a pay cheque of Rs. 70 crores for War 2, whereas Hrithik Roshan has got an upfront fee of Rs. 50 crore, with an additional clause of a back-end deal for profit sharing. Kiara Advani, on the other hand, has got Rs. 15 crores, whereas Anil Kapoor is drawing Rs. 10 crores for War 2. The acting fees alone have resulted in Rs. 150 crores, with Ayan Mukerji getting a hefty cheque of Rs. 30 crores.
Hrithik Roshan to take home nearly 40% more remuneration than Jr. NTR for War 2.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra for YRF, War 2 is made on an enormous ₹400 crore budget, making it one of India’s most expensive productions.
The film will release in IMAX across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, and stars Kiara Advani as Kavya Luthra alongside Hrithik’s Major Kabir Dhaliwal.
