Steal follows Zara, played by Sophie Turner, an everyday office worker whose routine job at Lochmill Capital turns violent without warning. What starts as a bland workday becomes a nightmare when an armed crew storms the office and forces both Zara and her best friend Luke, played by Archie Madekwe, to execute a dangerous plan. Turner steps into a character who’s far from the usual heist mastermind. Zara isn’t slick, skilled or prepared. She’s an ordinary woman caught in an extraordinary crime, and the tension comes from watching her improvise, survive and question the motives behind a robbery that targets billions in pension funds.

On the other side of the investigation is DCI Rhys, played by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd. Rhys is determined to uncover why someone would orchestrate a robbery of such scale, but he’s carrying baggage of his own. A recent relapse into gambling threatens to cloud his judgment, making him a detective grappling not only with criminals but also with his own fractures. The clash between Rhys’s vulnerability and the ruthlessness of the crime adds another layer of grit to the series.

Steal comes from a team known for character-driven drama. Executive producers Greg Brenman and Rebecca De Souza, along with producer Nuala O’Leary, steer the show under the banner of Amazon MGM Studios and Drama Republic. The latter has built its reputation on a slate of acclaimed titles ranging from Doctor Foster and The Honourable Woman to global hits like The English and One Day. Their involvement signals that Steal won’t simply rely on the mechanics of a heist; it will drill into the emotional undercurrents beneath the chaos.

With Turner, Fortune-Lloyd and Madekwe leading the cast, and a premise that marries a cerebral investigation with raw, unpredictable danger, Steal is positioning itself as one of 2026’s early must-watch thrillers. The first-look images point to a show where every character has something to hide, and every twist tightens the net a little further.
