Lady Gaga is set to make an appearance in the highly anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, all while managing her ongoing Mayhem Ball Tour.
After performing four sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena, Gaga was spotted by fans in Milan, where the sequel to the 2006 hit film — which originally starred Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci — is currently being filmed. The Devil Wears Prada 2 marks Gaga’s first major movie role since Joker: Folie à Deux.
Earlier this year, she made a surprise cameo in Netflix’s popular series Wednesday. Her quick stop for filming comes before she’s set to take the stage again at Stockholm’s Avicii Arena on Sunday night.
While plot details for the sequel are still under wraps, reports suggest the story will follow Miranda Priestly as she faces new professional challenges in the modern media landscape. With traditional magazine publishing on the decline, Miranda is said to go head-to-head with her former assistant Emily, now a powerful executive at a luxury fashion group that controls the advertising budget Miranda needs to keep her publication afloat.
It’s not yet clear how Anne Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, fits into the new storyline. In the first film, Andy left Runway magazine to pursue a career in journalism at a newspaper, but it seems she may once again find herself back in the world of fashion.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, The Devil Wears Prada told the story of Andy Sachs, an aspiring journalist who lands a job at Runway, a high-end fashion magazine.
Under the rule of its intimidating and perfectionist editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, Andy struggles to survive the demands of the fashion world — a job that, as the film famously put it, “a million girls would kill for.”
Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who worked on the original film, are returning for the sequel, which will be released by 20th Century Studios on May 1, 2026 — nearly two decades after the first film became a global sensation.
