Home Alone cast then and now: From Macaulay Culkin to Catherine O’Hara and more
Much to the delight of Home Alone fans, actors Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern recently came together for a mini reunion. Seeing the trio together again after more than 30 years since the release of Home Alone left fans thrilled and nostalgic. Let’s take a look at how the actors have changed then and now.

Macaulay Culkin (Kevin McCallister)
Macaulay Culkin played the lead role of Kevin McCallister, the 10-year-old boy at the centre of the beloved family films Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He went on to appear in movies such as Richie Rich (1994), The Pagemaster (1994), Party Monster (2003), and Saved! (2004). Now 45, the actor is set to feature in Disney’s Zootopia 2 in 2025 and will also appear in season 2 of the Prime Video series Fallout.

Joe Pesci (Harry)
Joe Pesci portrayed Harry, a con man and one half of the infamous “Wet Bandits” duo in Home Alone. In 1991, Pesci won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as real-life gangster Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas. He also received nominations in the same category for Raging Bull and The Irishman. Beyond acting, Pesci has explored music as well, releasing three studio albums.
3/7

Daniel Stern (Marv)
Daniel Stern played Marv, the other half of the “Wet Bandits.” While his character famously failed in his attempts to rob the McCallister home, Stern himself has enjoyed a long and steady career in Hollywood in the decades since the film’s release.
4/7

Catherine O'Hara (Kate McCallister)
Before Home Alone, Catherine O’Hara was already a well-known face in Hollywood, having appeared in several supporting roles throughout the 1980s, including Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice. Over the years, she has remained close to Macaulay Culkin and even served as a guest speaker when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023.

John Heard (Peter McCallister)
John Heard was a highly respected actor with a long and distinguished career. Prior to playing Kevin’s caring yet forgetful father, Peter McCallister, he appeared in acclaimed films such as Cutter’s Way (1981), Beaches (1988), and Big (1988). Heard passed away in July 2017 at the age of 71.

Devin Ratray (Buzz McCallister)
Devin Ratray is widely recognised for his role as Kevin’s cruel older brother, Buzz. Since Home Alone and its sequel, he has maintained a steady career in supporting roles. Off-screen, Ratray faced legal scrutiny in August 2022 when CNN reported he was under investigation following an allegation of rape from 2017; he denied the claims and was never charged.

Kieran Culkin (Fuller McCallister)
Kieran Culkin, Macaulay Culkin’s younger brother in real life, made his feature film debut in Home Alone and returned in the sequel. In the years that followed, he appeared in films such as Father of the Bride (1991), Father of the Bride Part II (1995), She’s All That (1999), and The Cider House Rules (1999). He went on to dominate the 2025 awards season for his performance in the dramedy A Real Pain, winning an Oscar, BAFTA, Critics’ Choice Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
